A shelf stable meal for an easy dinner! Adapted from Classic Shepherd's Pie - Home Cookin' Ground Beef Pack.

Meal Kit

  1. In a gallon resealable bag, combine beef, onions, tomato dices, green beans, corn, seasoning and beef bouillon. Remove air and seal.
  2. In a pint size resealable bag, measure 3/4 cup tomato sauce. Remove air and seal.
  3. In a quart size resealable bag, measure 4 cups mashed potatoes. Remove air and seal.
  4. in a pint size resealable bag, combine salt and Italian seasoning. Remove air and seal.
  5. In a pint size resealable bag, measure cheese. Remove air and seal.
  6. Place all bags in a gallon resealable bag or appropriate size container. Insert a copy of recipe into bag. Store in pantry for up to one year.

Same Day Instructions

  1. At least 8 hours in advance, add 1/3 cup water to bag with cheese. Lay flat and refridgerate.
  2. In a medium saucepan, saute' garlic in butter. Stir in beef, vegetables, seasoning and bouillon. Add 5 cups water, bring to a boil.
  3. In a SECOND medium sauce pan, start 4 cups of water to boil with butter, salt and Italian seasoning. This will be for the mashed potatoes.
  4. When water is boiling in the FIRST sauce pan, add tomato sauce and stir until it starts to thicken, turn off heat and cover.
  5. When SECOND sauce pan comes to a boil, remove from heat and wisk in mashed potatoes.
  6. For assembly, pour the meat and vegetable mixture in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Cover with mashed potatoes. Top with cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
